"Me encanta interpretar música medieval con instrumentos de Asier. El salterio, la cítola o la fídula no solo son bellas obras de arte en madera, sino que además, me dan todas las posibilidades que necesito para la interpretación de esta mágica música ancestral. Todo un disfrute para la vista y para los oídos del espectador y una herramienta útil, fiable y precisa para el intérprete."
"Asier De Benito is one of the very best medieval and renaissance instrument makers i have ever met. As a professional medieval music performer, the research for a philologically plausible instrument goes obiviosuly together with the needing of playing a good-sounding one. Unfortunately, this seems to be a rare combination nowadays as most of the time we end up playing on instruments built with philological criteria that don’t really fit the modern performance in terms of sound and playability or, alternatively, wannabe-medieval weird mandolines!
My Citole, a model that Asier originally designed together with Efrén Lopez inspired by various iconographical sources from XIII century, is masterfully carved from a single piece of wood as a medieval instrument of that kind should have been and combine with this feature all the characteristics of an instrument made by a top-level luthier: great sound, sustain, harmonics, beautiful playability. It also suits perfectly a big range of medieval music repertoires: from Iberian monodic music to Iater Italian and French “Ars Nova”. For all those reason it became an essential tool for my job and one of my main and favourite instruments.”
